Abhur Retreat

The brief

A weekend retreat where the sea does most of the visual work. The client wanted minimal visual clutter, an open plan that flowed from kitchen to living to terrace, and materials that could handle sea air and heavy weekend use.

The approach

We opened up the ground floor almost entirely, replacing partition walls with a single long sightline from the entrance to the water. Ivory plaster and natural oak keep the palette quiet, while durable, easy-clean finishes were chosen throughout for the realities of coastal living. Furniture was kept low-profile to protect the view from every seating position.

Result

A retreat that feels larger than its footprint, built around a single idea: never block the water.
